Research themes

Nanotechnology, supramolecular chemistry, membrane fusion, drug delivery, hydrogels (Prof. Alexander Kros)
A. Kros

The research in my group consists of three major research themes: 1) model systems for liposome-cell fusion, 2) silica nanoparticles based controlled release systems and 3) targeted drug delivery systems based on hydrogels.

Direct Delivery (Dr. Alexander Kros)

An ERC starting grant has been awarded to Alexander Kros for his research proposal "Direct Delivery", the development of a model system mimicking the fusion between liposomes and cells.

Supramolecular materials for biology (Dr. Roxanne Kieltyka)
Roxanne Kieltyka

My research interests lie at the interface between chemistry and biology focusing on the development of supramolecular biomaterials for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering applications.

Chemistry of graphene and other 2D crystals (Dr. Gregory Schneider)
G.Schneider

Graphene – a one atom thin material – has the potential to act as a sensor, primarily the surface and the edges of graphene.

Theory of Liquids at Interfaces (Dr. Edgar Blokhuis)
edgar.JPG

My research is directed toward the statistical thermodynamical description of liquids at interfaces. This includes the description of wetting phenomena, the behaviour of colloids and polymers in solution in contact with a solid, the organisation of self-assembling systems (micelles, micro emulsions, lipid bilayers, etc.), the waves on liquid surfaces, etc.
